Tutoring

With over 18 years of experience in teaching Business and Economics, I am a dedicated educator with a deep passion for inspiring secondary school students to understand the intricacies of the global economy and the business world. I have taught students at both the GCSE and A-Level stages, guiding them through complex concepts such as market structures, economic policies, business management, and financial literacy.

In addition to teaching, I am also an examiner for AQA where I assess student performance, ensuring that educational standards are upheld while providing valuable insights into curriculum development. With a commitment to fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills, I use a combination of engaging classroom activities, real-world case studies, and interactive teaching methods to bring these subjects to life.

I am also dedicated to the professional growth of my students, helping them apply economic theories to current events and encouraging them to think analytically about the world around them. With a proven track record of helping students achieve high exam results, I take great pride in seeing students not only excel academically but also develop a lifelong appreciation for economics and business.

I am here to help and work with your child to develop appropriate exam technique, cover lost content and empower your child to demonstrate to his or her classroom teacher that they are capable of producing high quality written work. I have 18 years of teaching and leadership experience working across state and the independent sector throughout my career.

I am an expert subject lead in Business Studies, Economics, Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), IB Diploma, as well as common entrance exams and provide Higher Education advice revolving around the UCAS process in the UK. I am in addition to these roles a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) training other colleagues to lead effectively across a range of Secondary Schools.

My Tutoring Style

Interactive and student centred

I prioritise creating an engaging learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and take an active role in their education. I foster an atmosphere of open communication and mutual respect, helping students feel confident in expressing their ideas and uncertainties.

Real-World Application

I believe in connecting textbook knowledge to real-world scenarios. By integrating case studies, current events, and examples from the business world, I help students see the practical applications of what they are learning. This makes complex concepts more accessible and relatable.

Structured and Goal-Oriented

I provide clear learning objectives for each session, ensuring that students understand the purpose and relevance of each topic. My sessions are structured to build on previous knowledge, reinforcing key concepts while introducing new material in a logical and progressive manner.

Exam-Focused but Comprehensive

As an examiner, I have a strong understanding of what students need to do to succeed on their exams. My tutoring includes targeted exam preparation, such as practicing past papers, improving exam technique, and developing strategies for answering different types of questions. At the same time, I emphasise the importance of grasping the underlying principles to foster a deeper understanding of the subject.

Supportive and Motivating

I am committed to the academic growth of my students and work closely with them and their parents / carers to identify areas of improvement. My approach is encouraging, offering constructive feedback and celebrating progress, no matter how small. I understand that each student learns differently, and adapt my teaching methods to suit students` individual needs

A Note for Parents / carers

Booking academic tutoring for your child can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to have questions. You know your child better than anyone, and your instinct that something isn’t quite right matters.

Academic tutoring and additional support is not about labelling children or making a big deal out of their struggles. It’s simply about giving them a helping hand, in a safe and nurturing space to fulfil their academic potential.

If you’d like to have a chat before committing to anything, I’d love to hear from you. There’s absolutely no obligation, just a warm conversation about how I might be able to help.
